Writing Tips: What Does A Synthesis Essay Consist Of?


The ability to write synthesis essays is cultivated during school and college days; however do you know that this pattern of writing is used maximum in business and advertising world?

How to write such compositions?


  1. Examine your topic: Understand the concept and form insightful connections amid multiple works. Your pattern of writing varies based on the type of synthesis composition you will write. There are basically three categories of such writings-
  2. Argument synthesis: It creates a strong thesis statement from the writer’s perspective. Business white papers are usually written in this format. Students are expected to write such compositions during AP tests.
  3. Review: It is critical analysis of the covered sources. Such compositions are written in Social Sciences and in the field of medicine.
  4. Explanatory synthesis type: A few business white papers employ this form. They are written to develop the reader’s understanding.
  5. Pick an appropriate topic: The topic should be broad but should be easily narrowed down. Choose the topic carefully. The topic will become a deciding point for developing a thesis statement.
  6. Read the source material again and again: Pick key quotes, ideas, data, statistics and facts from various places that fit the scenario. If your intention is to take a claim by the rival, poke holes in it and find quotes relevantly.
  7. Create an outline: Plan the outline formally. It should be part of introductory paragraphs, the body paragraphs and the conclusion.
