Free Tutorial On Composing A College APA Format Essay

When you are asked to write a paper in the APA format, it can be intimidating. You will see that the exact directions need to be followed to be successful. However, even though there is a manual full of exact instructions on how to pull it off, you won’t need to worry too much about getting every tiny piece one hundred percent correct. Not even your instructor will know where to put ever comma or spacing detail in its exactness. However, these tips will get you headed in the right direction and will get you a perfect score on the formatting section at least with most of the teachers.

  • Double Space
  • Unless your instructor tells you differently, you will need to make sure that you use double spacing in your work. It makes your paper easier to read, leaves room for comments and editing, and makes the paper more aesthetically appealing. It is the best way to get the work done that you are looking to get.

  • Font Style and Size
  • You are asked to use a legible font style that shows a significant difference when italicized. The best bet is to choose Times New Roman. It is one of the fonts that are listed and instead of given a whole list of possibilities, why not just choose the one the manual suggested. The font size will be 12 point.

  • Title Page
  • There should be a title page where you will present your information regarding the title, your name, the school, the course, the instructor, and the date of submission. This will be double spaced in the middle of the paper. There should be a header as well on the first page. The header should start with “Running Head:” and then the abridged version of your paper title.

  • Header
  • Your paper will have a header that lists that title to the flush left and the page number to the flush right. It will go on the top of each page and the pages numbered consecutively.

  • Reference page
  • Your reference page will start on the next full page of your text and will not be on the same page as the body of the paper. It is labeled “References” and put in alphabetical order. You will need to utilize the guide to see how to submit the information for your sources.

These tips are sure to help you get your assignment completed effectively.
